J.R. Smith Administration
Principal Brown has been an educator since 2001. He received his bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Brigham Young University and a Master of Education degree from Southern Utah University. He has also received endorsements in English as a Second Language and Elementary Mathematics. He is committed to being a lifelong learner. He is currently working on another graduate certificate from the University College of Dublin, Ireland.
One of Mr. Brown’s passions is to be outdoors. He was born and raised in rural southern Oregon where he explored old mine shafts and caught salmon with his hands in the Rouge River. Some of his favorite hobbies include running, horseback riding, and primitive skills such as flint knapping, fire by friction, and outdoor survival. In the summer you may catch him holding up the Heber Valley Railroad with a band of outlaws, making tools in the blacksmith shop at This Is The Place Heritage Park, or driving a horse-drawn wagon around the county with his family.
Mr. Brown knows J.R. Smith Elementary is the best school because our test scores consistently show high levels of learning for our children. He loves being the principal and working with such great students, parents, and faculty. Mr. Brown’s goal for J.R. Smith is for every student to remember they are a Pathfinder and will lead, not follow.
