Wasatch Learning Academy Principal

Principal Piper Riddle

A native of Boise, Idaho, where she attended Capital Eagles High School, Piper Riddle earned her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Boise State University, an M.Ed.s in Reaching, Math and Leadership/Supervision from Southern Utah University, and an Ed. S. in Curriculum and Instruction from Utah State University. Her 23-year career in education began in Wasatch, where she has been both a 4th Grade and 5th Grade Teacher at Midway Elementary, a 5th Grade Teacher at Heber Valley Elementary, and currently serves as Principal at HVE.  Mrs. Riddle also spent time in the Canyons School District as an Evidence-Based Learning Specialist; Curriculum Team Leader over Elementary Math, Elementary ELA and Chinese Dual Immersion; and as an Adjunct Professor at Southern Utah University and Utah Valley University. She lives in Heber City with her husband, Rod, and has three children, plus one much-loved foster addition, and is “Mimi” to one grandchild with another on the way. When considering what makes her proud to be a part of Wasatch, Mrs. Riddle says, “Wasatch CSD is like a large family — we support and appreciate each other, and we hold each other accountable for doing what’s best for our students. 

 

Mrs. Riddle’s Educational Philosophy:

  • “’Treat people as if they were what they ought to be, and you help them become what they are capable of becoming.’ This quote summarizes my ideals as an educator. I believe that it is the responsibility of the educators in a school to develop a culture of achievement, unity and positivity through interactions with staff, parents, and students. As an educator, I seek to reinforce relationships of collegiality, behaviors of professionalism, and attitudes of collaboration; centered on a belief that all students can learn and achieve at high levels.”  
  • “Student achievement (for both children and teachers) requires relentless communication of expectations and consistent efforts of support. I work in collaboration with the community of learners at my school to create and sustain a shared vision of leadership and achievement by serving as both the school manager, and more critically, as the instructional leader. My willingness and capacity to work alongside classroom teachers as an instructor, as a problem solver, and as a dedicated educator is vital as we work together to build a system of supports and effective practices that ensure the rights and serve the needs of every child in our school.”
