current issues facing our school and acts as an advisory committee for our counselor.\u00a0 <\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 14pt;\">The council is composed of parents, teachers, As a member, you have a direct influence on how funds are spent. Elections for the council are held in August prior to the start of school.\u00a0 The announcement of elections is sent home with the back-to-school packet. Information about filing for an open position can be found on this website under election procedures.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-6064e700 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"6064e700\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Election Procedures<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-650687f5 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"650687f5\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Every year, about half of the seats on the council are up for reelection. All parents with students attending our school are invited to join the council in August. Parents can not work more than six hours at the school and hold a parent position on the council. If more parents would like to be on the council than there are spots, an election is held. Teachers nominate their peers to fill open teacher positions on the council. If a parent or teacher leaves the council before the end of their term, the parent group or teacher group of the council selects a parent\/teacher to fill the spot.\u00a0\u00a0 Council members serve for two years. Members may serve up to three consecutive terms. The agenda will include the date, time and location of the meeting.<\/p><p><br \/>The council will prepare a timeline for the school year that includes due dates for all required reporting and other activities\/tasks that the council agrees to assume or participate in. The timeline will assist in preparation of agendas to be sure the council accomplishes their work in a timely manner.<\/p><p><br \/>The council will consist of six members (4 parents; 2 teachers) plus the principal and secretary who are non-voting members.<\/p><p><br \/>The chair conducts the meetings, makes assignments and requests reports on assignments. In the absence of the chair the vice-chair shall conduct meetings.<\/p><p><br \/>The council must have a quorum to vote. A quorum is equal to a majority of council members.<br \/>If a member fails to attend a majority of the meetings, the member will automatically be classified as a non-voting member.<\/p><p><br \/>Correspondence may be in the form of email.<\/p><p><br \/>The council must determine a procedure for a council member to disclose a conflict of interest if required by the local school board.<\/p><p><br \/>Meetings shall be conducted and action taken according to very simplified rules of parliamentary procedure as required in 53G-7-1203(10).
