    This year your student will be coming to the library once a week.  I am so excited, and I am looking forward to an enjoyable year. During your child’s library time we will be working on grade-appropriate library skills, discussing books and various media, and reinforcing reading skills, in addition to checking out books.

    ¡Bienvenidos a la biblioteca de Daniels Canyon Elementary!  Este año su hijo(a) vendrá a la biblioteca cada semana durante cuarenta minutos. Por favor, ayude a su niño a recordar que debe traer su libro cada semana.   Durante su tiempo de biblioteca enseñaré las habilidades de biblioteca apropiadas, hablando de libros y varios medios, y reforzando las habilidades de la lectura, además de darles la oportunidad de sacar libros de la biblioteca.

    If we don’t have the book you’re looking for, no worries!  Check out the county library which is located at: 465 East 1200 South in Heber City. They are open Monday through Friday from 9:30 AM to 8:00 PM and on Saturdays from 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM. 

    Utah’s Online School Library is a research database where you will find access to resources like newspaper articles, magazines, professional journals, encyclopedias, videos, photographs, maps, charts and graphics. 

    Do you need to find out what a word means? Are you tired of using the same word over and over again? Then you can use dictionary.com or thesaurs.com to help you. This site is the leading online source for obtaining English definitions. It’s a free digital service. 

    A-Z Animals is an online animal encyclopedia where you can learn about all your favorite animals. Easy to use it’s a great resource for animal projects. 

    Learn about the different animals we have at Utah’s Hogle Zoo.  This site can be helpful for students when working on their animal reports. This website also provides resources for teachers especially when you plan your next field trip to the zoo.

    The official Nasa Science website site will help you explore and research the earth, sun, solar system, universe, and explore science and technology.  Also, with the touch of a button, you can change the language to Spanish. 

    The BrainPOP website is a great resource for 3rd- 5th graders they have reading and learning activities that are fun and engaging activity ideas for teachers as well. 

     bjr This website is suited for grades K-2 they have reading and learning activities that are fun and engaging. This website provides the same broad range of topics like “BrainPOP” but it’s a junior version that meets the needs of younger children. 

    This BrainPOP website is best for 3rd-5th grade students It provides the same resources as “Brain Pop” but it’s all in Spanish.

    Storyline Online is a children’s literacy website it’s has a good selection of picture books that are read by actors and actresses.  They are slightly animated and incorporate music into them just like a movie.  The books are captivating and really hold the interest of the viewer.  There are many books to choose from and each one lasts between 5 to 15 minutes in length. All of the story comes with teacher resources that provided outline lesson to go along with the story. 

    Wonderopolis is a great resource for everything that you wonder about.  It is nonfiction based and answers questions to almost anything you can think of.  

    Kahoot! Let’s play and learn in a fun and engaging way. 

    With Shelver, kids can put books away by call number order. You will have three levels to choose from. Level 1 is the easiet and Level 3 the hardest. You can practice shelving books  using the Dewey or fiction system.  Have fun!
